Morning sutra recitation at 9

In the morning recitation, we recite the whole Kyoten: Sutra Readings in English, which contains excerpts from the Threefold Lotus Sutra for daily practices. There we can attain the state of meditation and make a personal vow to diligently practise on that day.

Reciting the sutra every morning and evening is the first element of the basic practices of our faith. Its purpose is that we learn the true way to live as a member of humanity as preached in the Lotus Sutra, and thus become someone who benefits others as well.

You do not necessarily have to follow this style. It may be nice to take a seat and listen to or meditate during the recitation in a quiet and peaceful atmosphere.

To learn about sutra recitation practice, please read here.

Lunchtime daimoku chanting

Chanting meditation for prayer and empowerment. We chant ‘Namu Myoho Renge-kyo’ keeping an empty mind or praying for world peace or the happiness of people close to us. This practice will make us empowered and purify both our mind and body.
